Finalists Are In!

The moment we’ve been waiting for all week has finally arrived. I’m ready to tell you the finalists in each category.  Have a little patience.  Voting will be up later today, but it’s after midnight, and One Woman’s World is all shut down and it’s time for bed.  Until then, please look over our finalists so that you can make an informed decision!

Please read this before going on to our list of finalists.

The response has been overwhelming.  Congratulations to all those who were nominated.  Thanks to all those who did the nominating.

Special congratulations to all those who are finalists.  These finalists are determined by popular vote.

***Reminder: As I never specified any guidelines stating that blogs to be nominated must contain 100% G-rated material–not wanting to be personally responsible for censoring the internet–some of the blogs nominated may not conform to everyone’s reading preferences.  Some of the finalist blogs contain explicit content.

This blog competition is designed to encourage the widening of our reading world, and the fostering of community among women bloggers. If you are offended or bothered by the content of the site of one of our nominees, I’d encourage you to pass by the site, not vote for them, and move on. We’re not here to cause any scandals or offense. The competition is about sharing the love, and honoring excellence. I, for one, am really excited about a lot of the new reads I’m finding!

Also, you may notice that I have handily placed these blogs in REVERSE-alphabetical order.  My last name started at the end of the alphabet, growing up, and I’m sensitive to these things.

Have fun checking out our finalists.  Happy blogging, everyone, and I’m off to bed!

  1. Well done on getting this up. One question - I’m not sure what “explicit content” means. If you mean expletives then maybe say that? Explicit content leaves me wondering if I’m going to come across graphics that are ..erm.. explicit.

  2. Congratulations to all the finalists - all well deserving I’m sure. I had such fun yesterday reading so many of the nominees. I’ll have to admit though, that with so many, I had to zip through a lot of them. Now that the field has been narrowed down, I hope to give the finalist an even closer look.

A pat-on-the-back to Heather for this worthy project. And three cheers for my sister Colleen at Loose Leaf Notes. (I’m a tad bias, I know, but I’m glad to see others agree!)

  3. Oh my STARS! I’m tickled pink. Thank you, Heather. Are you exhausted?

  4. Woo-hoo! Great job, Heather. And congratulations to all you finalists! Y’all post your finalist graphics with pride. I’ve enjoyed visiting so many blogs I knew nothing about so this has been a really great experience for me.

Hang in there, Heather. And thanks for all your hard work.

  5. I don’t think Troll Baby’s link works. At least it doesn’t work for me.

    Comment by Kim in IL — February 21, 2006 @ 3:30 pm

  6. I tried Troll Baby’s link - when it comes up in your browser, delete everything after blogspot.com and it will work.

Other than that, Heather, I’m so pumped to vote. I wrote down my votes so I don’t forget!! :) Congratulations to all the finalists, you are all very deserving.

  7. Thank you very much, I’m honored to be a finalist in something other than “Worst Grammer and Spellng EVAH” which is really what my blog is all about.

  9. You highlighting blogs (including mine!) is much appreciated. This is a great opportunity to get out there and explore the wide and wild blogosphere!

  10. So, if you didn’t make the finals, do you need to take the nominee banner off your site?

    Comment by Queen Beth — February 21, 2006 @ 4:04 pm

  11. It’s so nice to find myself grouped with such wonderful women. Thanks for this whole thing. It has introduced to me a lot of new people I would not otherwise have met.

    Comment by schmutzie — February 21, 2006 @ 4:15 pm

  12. Ohhhhh I’m loving having so many new blogs to check out. Also, I’d like to thank the Academy, and tuck my nipple back into my dress while no one is looking. Thanks. ;)

    Comment by Mir — February 21, 2006 @ 4:50 pm

  13. The link to Ms Maggie Moo didn’t work for me. I’m impressed with the line-up and have been checking them out. I’m HAPPY to be on the list but starting to feel just a little shy about it.

Thanks to all who voted and to Heather for hosting this.

    Comment by colleen — February 21, 2006 @ 4:57 pm

  17. Wow! I’m honored to be a finalist in a couple categories, and I can’t tell you what a huge kick to be one of the “Most Meetable In Real Life”! I am quite a bit older than most of you ladies, but I’d love to meet up with a whole gaggle of you! You’re fun and energetic and great entertainment, to boot. Congrats to all! And many thanks to Heather…

  22. I would like you to know that comment #19 was NOT written by me. I think my husband wrote it, and when he gets home - I’ll ask him! *red face and all*

    Comment by kenju — February 25, 2006 @ 8:40 pm

  23. Oh Kenju, you don’t need to be embarassed. I thought you were joking. Funny.
